What does a sales assistant do?
Although it is a good starting point for a career as a salesperson, we should not confuse sales assistant with junior salespeople. The functions of the sales assistant are well defined, and cover a wide range of commercial management tools. They can have their own user in our company's online CRM. They can also make telephone sales or assist clients, but their specific functions go much further. They are the functions that the salesperson does not perform due to lack of time... or lack of training.
Administration of the commercial area. Time management, agenda supervision, organizational support for the sales team... Also administration of commercial management reports and preparation of periodic meetings.
Prospecting. Definition of prospects' interests, mapping out commercial areas to explore, organization of prospect databases... Also attention to prescribers, one of those tasks that sometimes "gets lost" during peaks of activity. Easy CRM alarms help the sales assistant stay on track.
Commercial information management. From updating a plot, editing documents for the sales team, price and product comparisons with the competition...
Opening and reception of clients. The sales assistant can greet and welcome new customers and retain that first contact. In this way the customer feels cared for until a salesperson is assigned. And it is not uncommon for the sales assistant herself to close the transaction.
